Why we love the Cream Legbar
The Cream Legbar is Britain's own blue-egg layer and one of the few auto-sexing breeds — chicks can be sexed at hatch by their down pattern. Alert, busy foragers with a charming little crest.
We started our Cream Legbar line in 2019 with birds from two long-established UK breeders and have selected hard for egg colour, type and temperament ever since. Our breeding pen this season runs one cockerel to eight hens, all wormed, vaccinated and free-ranging on fresh pasture. Fertility at last candle was 94%.
Hatching notes
- Hatching difficulty: Easy. Standard 37.5°C, 45% humidity to day 18.
- Easy to candle; expect clear veins at day 7.
- Chicks are hardy and feather up quickly.
