How to incubate chicken eggs: the complete 21-day guide

   Rest your eggs for 12–24 hours pointy-end down after delivery so the air cell settles.

   Run your incubator empty for 24 hours to confirm it holds 37.5°C (forced air) steadily.

   Set eggs on their side or pointy-end down in turner trays. Mark an X on one side if hand turning.

   Days 1–18: 37.5°C, 40–50% humidity, turn at least 3 times a day (odd number).

   Candle at day 7 and 14. Remove clears and quitters.

   Day 18 lockdown: stop turning, raise humidity to 65–70%, and don't open the lid.

   Day 21: chicks pip, rest, then zip out. Leave them to dry and fluff before moving to the brooder.
